Ok, so they other day I did laundry. I have a clothesline, which I thoroughly enjoy, and use all the time!! Thank God for California climate, I can almost hang to dry all year round. I love the crispness of sheets and the way tee shirts get ironed by the breeze. I happened to have my brassiere on the line this time, and I forgot to take it in before nightfall. The next morning, I looked out my sideyard door, as always, to see the sweet hummingbird that comes EVERY morning to our mexican sage bush, and realized I had left my eh eehhmmmm garment out. But alas, it was not there!!!! I was perplexed, and thought to myself, “Crazy teenagers, pulling a prank? High midnight winds??” As I looked around the yard, I saw my item. It was at least ten feet away from the line, and looked as if it had been rolled through a mud puddle, all crumpled and strewn on the grass. I went outside to gather it, I was still confused…it looked almost like little hands had been all over it…. Garden gnomes?? No, silly, raccoons had had a game of late nite soccer and my brassier was the ball!! Those darn raccoons, they just yanked my intimate down off the line and had at it! I did launder it again, and it came clean, thankfully. I feel a little violated, and I can’t wait to write about the other story I have about the local family of coons that live near me. Beware, they are NASTY!!!!
Today, God taught me a lesson on prayer. Early rhis morning, I woke to drive my precious daughter to work, so i could have her car. I am visiting Anchorage, where she lives , and as we were on our way, she was sad because she had to work later than usual and we are trying to make the most of our time together. Well, being she is my child, even if she is an adult, i heard her disappointment, so i prayed out loud, that God knew her schedule and would he please, please, PLEASE figure it out so she would get off early! I also told God that i was asking Him as if I was a child, like a pleading 6year old! We both laughed, I dropped her off, and promptly got a liitle lost on the way home. Not to panic, i just started singing and thenade it home. She texted me an hour later and said my prayer had been answered, she was going to be off EARLY! I realized I had really prayed with a sense of earnesty and urgency. Then i realized that i don’t always do that. Not say that God will always give my way, or answer so clearly or quickly, but He gave me the beautiful moment of AHA that I need in my life. Don’t let your prayer life get like the proverbial “I’ll take the regular.”.
